Kaitlyn Hunt

Kaitlyn learned music from an early age from her parents who were both music educators. In her school bands she played clarinet for many years. Another of Kaitlyn’s talents is tap dancing, where she incorporates cool improvised jazz rhythms into her dancing. When she joined String Theory, Kaitlyn learned to play the ukulele, and now contributes lead & backup vocals, ukulele accompaniment, and clarinet solos. Kaitlyn graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in mechanical engineering and is now an acoustical consultant, specializing in performing arts venues. Kaitlyn has built two tenor ukuleles, one of which she plays in String Theory.

Marina Tishkova

Marina is a classically trained pianist who has been playing since the age of four. She’s studied piano in Russia and later at the Royal College of Music in the UK. She has performed with a classical trio, as a solo pianist, and as a music director. She is also a dedicated piano teacher. With such a background, it is no wonder how she plays piano, keyboard bass, and sings with String Theory…all at the same time! Marina is also an accomplished ballroom dancer who has competed and performed at numerous events. In addition to her performing talents, Marina is a full-time mom, an excellent photographer, and is even building her own guitar!

Matt Kinch

Matt is a versatile musician who has played in ensembles from an early age. One of his talents is playing the bassoon, which some day String Theory may take advantage of. Throughout college, Matt played most percussion instruments, including xylophone, marimba, and vibraphone. He performed in his college drum line and is an accomplished trap set drummer. With String Theory, Matt plays baritone ukulele, xylophone, percussion, and sings lead and backing vocals. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering and is a professional engineer in the field of acoustics.

Ashton Taylor

Ashton fell in love with the guitar as a teenager and soon learned to play folk and rock music. With very little other previous musical training, he decided to become a music major in college, and graduated from the University of Houston with a music degree. Ashton mentored private guitar students and taught classes at a local community college covering music theory approached from a guitar perspective. He has been a sound system designer and is currently an acoustical consultant. With his background in music and acoustics, it is only natural that he became a guitar maker too. In String Theory, Ashton sings, plays guitar, and composes original songs.
